MEET THE TEAM

Richard Hagan_edited_edited_edited.jpg

Richard grew up on the Isle of Sheppey and later returned to Kent in 2009 to plant Emmanuel church Canterbury with 8 others. When he served as an assistant minister in Dorset he was thrilled to see 50 churches come together for a large mission with Rico Tice. He is very keen to see Kent churches grow together in the confidence that the gospel really is god's power for salvation, and to be equipped to reach the 1.9 million lost people in this great county. He loves to pray Paul's prayer in 2 Thessalonians 3:1: 'pray for us that the message of the lord may spread rapidly and be honoured.' He is married to Corinne and they have 4 children. He loves reading military history, running with the dog and making music.

Simon became pastor of Herne Bay Evangelical Free Church (FIEC) in 2021. He’s a new-comer to Kent, but family roots mean he keeps bumping into distant relatives! Simon is married to Victoria, and they have three kids, who are loving life by the sea.  Before Kent, Simon was an architect in London, and an elder at Duke Street Church, Richmond. He's also spent several years living in Russia, researching Soviet Constructivist architecture, among other fascinating things.  Simon had a first taste of gospel partnership at his university Christian union. Expecting it to be ‘dodgy’, he was deeply humbled to find brothers and sisters in Christ from various churches, more passionate than him about sharing the good news. So it’s exciting to be involved in KGP now, which offers churches a framework to enjoy gospel unity, without compromise, and by God’s grace to be more effective, together.

I love Kent. I grew up here and enjoy raising my family here: we walk on the North Downs, cycle through the woods and live in a village full of fruit trees. We want our neighbours to know the God who gave us all these good things and loves us despite our rejection of him; the God who became a man and died so that we could be forgiven and come home to him.

I left Kent for six years to study and thoroughly enjoyed Cornhill, King's College London and Oak Hill; but I was also pleased to get back to Kent. For the last twenty years I have been serving as part of the leadership team of Oak Hall Expeditions. We take people away from the distractions of life and bring them together through shared adventure; then open up the Bible to show them the glory of the Lord Jesus and try to send them back home to serve in their local churches.

As a family, we are very grateful for the church in our village where we are loved, taught and encouraged.

Over 25 years ago, Beverlea made the move to Kent from Northern Ireland to join a mission agency—a decision which led to a rich and varied journey of serving in personnel and member care roles across the UK and East Asia. St Nicholas Sevenoaks has been her home church since moving to Kent, and in 2024, she joined the staff team in an operations role—something she's found both rewarding and enjoyable.

In Beverlea's words:"Being part of the KGP steering group is a wonderful opportunity to look beyond the local church and be involved in a wider gospel partnership, as churches work together to share the good news of Jesus across our communities".

Jess has lived in Kent all her life and came to faith at Outpost Church in Ashford after a work colleague told her about Jesus and invited her to church.  Having worked in insurance and education, she now serves her church as a trustee and youth worker, while her husband sings in the worship band.  Jess is kept busy with an active 6 year old and enjoys regular camping and nature trips with her family, as well as visiting Spain—her husband’s home country—for some 'proper tapas'. Having seen the transforming power of Jesus in her own life, Jess is delighted to support the Kent Gospel Partnership in their vision to unite churches across Kent to grow, serve, and reach the county with the gospel.
